Singapore -
Event: ‘Life
in the Shiok

In January we invited clients to our office for an evening of film, wine and discussion on food heritage and culture.

We screened two films from the Singapore Heritage Short Film competition which opened up the floor for discussion ranging from the origins and migrations of cuisines and foods to what value and authenticity mean in the context of food today. We also looked at how nostalgia and identity are inextricably linked to food and how this manifests in our lives and the fragile existence of the hawker centres and the new players that are rejuvenating heritage foods in Singapore.

We ended the evening with a small food quiz asking people to identify certain classic Singaporean foods and tell us what they knew about them, sparking off a series of fun stories, anecdotes and tales about the history of fish head curry.
